Let's speak German! This is an instructor-led conversation class for learners with intermediate to advanced German skills. This is the first of two themed classes offered this summer with the goal of helping you practice and improve your German conversation skills.

Topic: Summer at home - What can we do at home this summer, not being able to travel?

In this course we will collect, exchange, and present ideas and information about leisure activities, hobbies, and interesting entertainment programs in public media (favorite German shows, films, etc.).

This class will meet for 1.5 hours weekly every Thursday from May 14 - June 18. If the class fills up, we will open a second session.

German Conversation for Continuing Beginners 1

This class is for continuing beginners as well as for those who have previously had some exposure to German. You’ll focus on conjugating verbs, declension of nouns, definite and indefinite articles, and your ability to carry a simple conversation with a native German speaker.

This course has a required textbook that can be purchased from a variety of online sellers: Ultimate German (Beginner–Intermediate) ISBN-10 1400021065. Students are responsible for purchasing the textbook themselves.

Please note that this class is for beginners with previous German exposure. Lessons 1 through 7 of this book have already been covered. While there will only be a brief review of those chapters in the first class session, we’ll continue with lesson 8 there after.

This class will meet for 1.5 hours weekly every Saturday from May 16 - July 4.

Passport to Germany for Kids Ages 7-10

Passport to Germany for Kids 7-10 years old is an online cultural trip for kids to go to Germany. They will have the opportunity to see and get to know fun vacation spots and for kids in Germany (such as theme parks, lakes, waterparks, the biggest playgrounds, castles, etc.). Your child will learn about and visit different places in Germany while also participating in summer camp style activities (such as arts and crafts, creating vacation memory books, etc.) online from home, giving them the opportunity to not only visit the places, but also to bring a piece of Germany into the home! The class is taught in German and is a fun way for your child to keep up with their understanding of spoken German as well as some written German.

This class runs for 5 weeks on the following Saturdays: 5/23, 5/30, 6/6, 6/13, 6/20.

Classic German Film Directors

It's German movie time! Designed for students of an intermediate to advanced level, each class session will discuss a different German film from a classic German director. Students watch the movie during the week before class and discuss it (in German) during class. To help you practice your German reading and writing, the instructor wil include some supplemental readings and a writing component as well. This is a fun way to keep up with your German reading, writing, and speaking!

Please note: All films for this class are readily available for streaming on Amazon. Most of the films are free, however some may have an additional cost of no more than $3.99 per movie. Film costs are not included in the price of registration.

This class meets for 1.5 hours weekly every Wednesday from June 3 - July 8.

Let's speak German! This is an instructor-led conversation class for learners with intermediate to advanced German skills. This is the second of two themed classes offered this summer with the goal of helping you practice and improve your German conversation skills.

Topic: Typically German? Is there something like that? Let's find out!

In this multimedia course we will talk about everyday German traditions, customs and habits, using movie clips, pictures and little texts from German online sources. Students receive various learning materials from their teacher via email, which they can print out at home to use in class.

This class will meet for 1.5 hours weekly every Thursday from June 25 - July 30. If the class fills up, we will open a second session.

Summer in Germany for Kids Ages 7-10

Summer in Germany for Kids 7-10 years old is a great way for kids to experience German culture online. They will see and get to know what kids do in the summer for fun in Germany – going to festivals, fairs, the zoo, and more. Your child will learn about what kids in different areas of Germany do during the summer, while also participating in summer camp style activities (examples are: making our own “Spaghetti Eis“ and Salzteig, Lego creations, etc.) online from home, giving them the opportunity to tangibly bring a piece of Germany into their home! The class is taught in German and is a great way for your child to keep up with their understanding of spoken German and experience German culture.

This class runs for 5 weeks on the following Saturdays: 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, and 8/1. There is no class on 7/4.
